WHY DESIGN
I've carried a sketchbook since I could hold a pencil. I started college as a double major in Science Education and Art Education, but panicked and spent two semesters in science before realizing it wasn't for me. A guest lecture on visual communications changed everything. I looked at my friend next to me and said "Why is that not my major?". I switched majors the next day, and even a pandemic couldn't derail it. Graphic design just made sense.

Growing up
Grew up in Evansville, IN, but spent 3 months every year in New York City.
Sonny to Sunnie
"Sunnie" comes from my grandfather, Edgar Ernest Berning II, a junior who went by "Sonny" his whole life. My papa is the original light behind the name I carry with pride.
Favorite team
MAJOR fan of the U.S. Women's National Team, I could tell you a fact about any player and follow just about any soccer league. In 2019, I entered their fan scarf design contest and won after public and federation voting. My design was sold on the U.S. Soccer website for a year, and it's now my canvas for collecting player autographs.
